An influencer marketing maturity model is a diagnostic framework that measures how systematically a brand plans, operates, measures and integrates influencer marketing. In TANKE’s definition, maturity progresses through five levels, Random, Repeatable, Structured, Scalable and Integrated, assessed across six operating dimensions.
The model does not rank brands by budget size, campaign volume or follower reach. It determines whether influencer investment can become repeatable, scalable, measurable and comparable with the rest of the media mix.
The five TANKE maturity levels
- Random: opportunistic activations, intuitive creator selection and measurement limited mainly to likes or reach.
- Repeatable: recurring but still tactical campaigns, with limited integration and organisational learning.
- Structured: annual objectives, dedicated ownership, business KPIs, audience insight and standardised contracts.
- Scalable: an always-on system using multi-tier portfolios, social listening, ambassador programmes and full-funnel attribution.
- Integrated: influence is built into marketing strategy, co-creation, social commerce and cross-channel budget decisions.
The six dimensions assessed
TANKE assesses business logic, organisation and team, sourcing and vetting, creativity and content, creator relationships, and measurement and governance. A brand may be advanced in one dimension and weak in another, so maturity must be diagnosed multidimensionally.
What is the model used for?
It identifies the operating constraint limiting performance, aligns internal teams and partners, and prioritises a roadmap. It separates execution maturity from budget growth: increasing spend without improving creator selection, processes, relationships or measurement can simply scale inefficiency.
